State Officials Present Florida Repertory Theatre with $750,000 Grant

Funds Earmarked for Hurricane Repairs to Historic Theatre Facilities

FORT MYERS, FL – On August 17, 2023, Florida elected officials visited Florida Repertory Theatre to acknowledge a $750,000 appropriation earmarked for hurricane repairs to the theatre company’s facilities in the Historic Arcade building. Florida House Representative Spencer Roach, Florida House Representative Jenna Persons-Mulicka, Florida Senator Jonathan Martin, and Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson were in attendance.

During the presentation, Florida Repertory Theatre board chair Janice Danzig stated, “Florida Repertory Theatre has been a significant landmark in Downtown Fort Myers since 1998. When Hurricane Ian hit, our facilities sustained over $2 million in damages. We wish to express our sincere thanks to Florida House Representative Spencer Roach who, upon discovery of the magnitude of storm damage sustained by the over 100-year-old Arcade building, was moved to sponsor the appropriation request.”

Danzig also thanked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, Senator Martin, Representative Persons-Mulicka, and Mayor Anderson for supporting the funding allocation.
