A gripping and electrifying play that reimagines the night before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. It’s April 3, 1968, and after delivering his most memorable speech, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. The Mountaintop is a surrealistic fantasy about a chance encounter between King and a mysterious hotel maid who brings him a cup of coffee and prompts him to confront his life, his past, his legacy and the plight and future of his people.

Evening performances are offered Tuesday through Saturday, with matinee performances offered Thursdays and on weekends. Florida Rep’s parking lot opens 2 hours before each performance and offers guests FREE PARKING across the street from the Arcade Theatre.
