Roles

HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY: Fred “Pap” Rose

Thrilled to be making his debut with Florida Repertory Theatre and proudly adding to his Florida theatrical credits, including: Florida Studio Theatre (FST), Riverside Theatre, The Caldwell Theatre, and Florida Stage. He most recently was seen performing with FST’s Cabaret production of Reel Music last winter in Sarasota. On Broadway, Joel was seen in the Tony winning revival of 42nd Street and the Mel Brooks Smash hit, The Producers. Joel has toured the country extensively with many Broadway National tours, including The Producers, performed the roles of Leo Bloom and Carmen Ghia. He was a member of the Chicago, Toronto and Brazilian Companies of Elton John’s Broadway musical Billy Elliot. One of Joel’s favorite roles was playing Lord Clapham in the sublimely hysterical tour of Something Rotten along with the eccentrically odd reporter Jerry Jubilee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Other New York credits include the Off-Broadway hit Cagney, as well as the first incarnation of Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize winning production of Rent. Although a New York based actor, Joel is a true Southern boy at heart having grown up in North Carolina. Joel is a proud graduate of The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. He sends his love to his devoted and always supportive parents.
