Important Announcement about Florida Rep’s Programming

Dear Florida Rep Supporters & Patrons,

Florida Repertory Theatre’s priority is the health and safety of our patrons, artists, and staff, and we appreciate your support during these difficult times as we monitor the ongoing and fluid situation surrounding the coronavirus and its spread in our community.

In accordance with the latest recommendations from the CDC regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), effective immediately, Florida Rep has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel all remaining performances of Every Brilliant Thing and A Doll’s House, Part 2, as well as to cancel the upcoming production of Ripcord and the 2020 PlayLab Festival of new works.

For those who currently have tickets for Every Brilliant Thing and/or A Doll’s House, Part 2, thank you for your patience. We are working tirelessly to make high-quality professional video recordings of these productions available to you for streaming in the comfort of your home. Please stay tuned to www.FloridaRep.org and to your email for further updates and instructions on streaming.

For Subscribers, ticket holders and would-be ticket buyers for Ripcord we hope that you too might consider watching a streaming video production of A Doll’s House, Part 2 and/or Every Brilliant Thing.

The decision to cancel programming is not an easy one and has handed a significant financial blow to Florida Rep. For patrons planning to attend any of our upcoming performances who wish not to receive a streaming video production, we first ask you to consider giving your tickets back to the theatre as a donation or applying the tickets as a credit toward future programming. We are grateful for any contributions at this time as it will help to reduce our losses so far.

In addition to its mainstage season programming. Florida Rep has also made the decision to cancel its yearly fundraising gala scheduled for March 28th but is in the process of putting together an event that can be live-streamed as a telethon to raise funds for Florida Rep and Florida Rep Education. This event is more important now than ever. Information about the gala and how to participate electronically will be made available as soon as possible. As always, the gala includes a number of high-end silent auction items, and Florida Rep is making plans to make those available soon for online bidding.

For questions about your tickets or to make arrangements, please call 239-332-4488 or email BoxOffice@floridarep.org. Thank you in advance for your patience with our customer service and communications departments as they deal with a very high volume of calls and emails.

Florida Rep’s Education Department will postpone public performances of the Conservatory production of Bat Boy to a date later this spring to be announced. The current class schedule, as well as the Spring Break Camp held at the Alliance for the Arts, has also been canceled.

The Education Department’s popular Summer Camp programming is set to move ahead as planned beginning in June. Of course, Florida Rep is monitoring the situation which changes moment-to-moment. For questions about Educational programming please email Education Director, Kody Jones at kjones@floridarep.org or call 239-219-1550.

This is a significant blow to our institution, but we are confident that with the help of our patrons and our community we will emerge from this crisis as strong as ever and united on our resolve to provide our community with high caliber professional theatre, children’s education, and outreach. It is with a heavy heart that we come to this difficult decision and to say goodbye to our ensemble and guest artists prematurely, but our highest priority is the health and well-being of the entire Rep family, and that means you.

Please stay tuned to your email, our website and all our social media platforms for updates as we monitor this situation and release more information about streaming productions.

Please take care of yourselves and thank you for your unwavering support of Florida Repertory Theatre.

Greg Longenhagen, Artistic Director
John Martin, Executive Director
