Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce its 2019-2020 Season!

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce its 2019-2020 Season line-up, which continues the company’s third decade producing nationally-recognized, professional theatre in the Fort Myers River District. Set to open Sept. 27, 2019 and run to May 10, 2020 in the Historic Arcade Theatre and ArtStage Studio Theatre, the nine-show season includes a salute to a country music icon, one of Neil Simon‘s classic comedies, a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere, a classic thriller, 2014’s Tony-winning BEST MUSICAL, and many more!

Subscriptions start as low as $174 for six plays and offer the best seats and the most significant savings. Packages for 9, 8, 7, and 6 shows are on sale now for both new and renewing season ticket holders through the box office at 239-332-4488. Renewing subscribers have until May 15 to renew their current seats or make changes to their subscriptions, and new subscribers can sign up at any time.

Single tickets are priced at $55/$49 for regular performances and $35/$29 for previews and will go on sale July 15 through the box office and online at www.FloridaRep.org.

The 2019-2020 Season features six productions in the 393-seat Historic Arcade Theatre and three in the 120-seat ArtStage Studio Theatre, and kicks off with a heartfelt and powerful musical about the most popular female country singer in recording history, “Always…Patsy Cline” by Ted Swindley in the intimate ArtStage venue. Also featured in the season are “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” the multiple Tony Award-winning Best Musical, and “A Doll’s House, Part 2” by Lucas Hnath, one of the hottest new plays in America, and a multiple Tony nominee.

Florida Rep is also proud to salute the late, great, Neil Simon with his now-classic romantic comedy, “Barefoot in the Park,” which will take the Arcade stage in January. The Arcade Theatre season kicks off on late-October with Ken Ludwig‘s “The Fox on the Fairway,” a farce from the author of “Lend Me a Tenor” and “Moon Over Buffalo.”

Florida Repertory Theatre’s 22nd season also includes a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere as part of its ongoing efforts to develop new works and nurture playwrights. Opening Dec. 20 in the ArtStage Studio Theatre, “Alabaster” by Audrey Cefaly is an intimate portrait of survival showcased in Florida Rep’s 2018 PlayLab Festival. Funny, heartbreaking, and earth-shattering, this powerful new play begins a record-breaking nine-theatre Rolling World Premiere at Florida Rep before taking the country by storm.

“We are delighted to celebrate twenty-two years of professional theatre with this varied and exciting season of musicals, new works, and classics,” said Artistic Director, Greg Longenhagen. “This diverse line-up of plays and musicals, both classic and contemporary, will break new ground for the theatre, introduce many new faces, and of course, showcase our ensemble of artists in a variety of roles. I am particularly excited to bring a fresh new musical to our stage and to kick off a staggering 9-theatre Rolling World Premiere in partnership with the National New Play Network. Our 22nd season is a coming of age for our company, and I am proud to steer it into its future. We hope you’ll join us for another year of first-class professional theatre.”

Based on overwhelmingly positive feedback from patrons, Florida Rep will continue to open its parking lot, conveniently located directly across the street from the theatre, 2-hours before each curtain time. And, for a third season, the theatre’s weeknight performances will begin at 7 PM.
