Florida Rep July Update #2!July 30, 2020
As many of you are aware, July 15th was the date single tickets were to have gone on sale for our 2020-2021 Season. Under normal circumstances, our staff would be in high gear right now, planning, scheduling, and looking to that date as a cause for celebration. Single tickets going on sale means the season is almost here after a summer being dark. But this year, July 15th came and went without fanfare as our country grapples with a complex public health crisis, and our industry copes with a months-long intermission.
This is a difficult time for all of us, and within our industry, actors, stage managers, designers, staff, volunteers, and theatergoers are left asking what comes next. Amid all of the uncertainty, we want you to know that Florida Rep is here for you. We know we have a long road ahead of us, but because of you, we are strong. We will get through this, and we will see you at the theatre soon.
In the meantime, while we made the difficult decision not to begin selling single tickets until we have a clearer path forward, we will be in touch with you soon to tell you what our plans are for 2020-2021. While we may not be able to gather for some time, we will have offerings for you digitally this fall. Florida Rep will join a growing number of theatre companies pioneering on-demand and streaming content to fill the void left by professional live theatre in our community.
Not only are we monitoring the public health situation to keep you safe, but we also remain committed to this community’s cultural public health to keep you enriched. Though we cannot gather, we will never abandon our mission to provide you with the finest in professional theatre by making the arts accessible to all.
We greatly appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncertain times. No matter what, we want to thank you for your support during this extended intermission. In the meantime, you can support Florida Rep in many ways. Connect with us every Friday as we rerun our popular Stage@Home Virtual Talkback Series, watch our Education Department’s 2020 production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night on-demand, or consider donating to help us make up for a monumental loss of revenue.
We cannot wait to see you at the theatre again soon.
