Florida Rep’s 2025-2026 Season

Florida Rep is seeing submissions for the following roles and for understudy and swing opportunities. For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

STAGE MANAGERS: Florida Repertory Theatre accepts submissions for Stage Managers and Assistant Stage Managers open positions throughout the season. Please send a resume to SMhiring@floridarep.org with “2026 STAGE MANAGER SUBMISSION” in the subject line. STAGE MANAGER resumes will also be accepted as possible replacements for unexpected vacancies as the season progresses.


2026-2027 SEASON BREAKDOWNS

STAR SPANGLED GIRL by Neil Simon. Dir: Greg Longenhagen. 1st Reh: 9/29/2026. Runs: 10/23/26 – 11/08/26. In Florida Rep’s Historic Arcade Theatre.

ANDY HOBART: Male. Mid/Late 20s. Publisher of a political magazine called “Fallout.” He has the worried look of a man twice his age. He is a dedicated, idealistic, cynic charged with the energy of an angry generation.

NORMAN CORNELL: Male. Mid /20s. Andy’s business partner. Although he is the brain and intellect behind “Fallout,” when he is away from the typewriter, he is an incorrigible adolescent.

SOPHIE RAUSCHMEYER: Female. Early/mid 20s. A lovely, young blonde. The prototype of an all-American girl. An Olympic swimmer from Arkansas who speaks with an Arkansas drawl.


WAIT UNTIL DARK by Frederick Knott. Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher. Dir: Charles Morey. 1st Reh:11/03/26. Runs: 11/27/26-12/13/26. In Florida Rep’s Historic Arcade Theatre.

SUSAN HENDRIX: Female. Mid 20s-mid 30s. Clever, kind, and vivacious. An accident recently left her blind. Requires an actor comfortable with stage combat.

SAM HENDRIX: Male. 30s. Susan’s husband, an ex-Marine, and a professional photographer.

HARRY ROAT: Male. Mid 30s-40s. A criminal mastermind. Must be comfortable with stage combat.

CARLINO: Male. Mid 30s-40s. One of Roat’s henchmen. A bearish man.

MIKE TALMAN: Male. 30s-40s. Sam’s friend.

GLORIA: Female. 12-14 years old. Susan’s upstairs neighbor.


PLAID TIDINGS by Stuart Ross. Original FOREVER PLAID vocal & musical arrangements by James Raitt. Dir/Choreographer: Michael Marotta. Musical Director: Steven Zumbrun. 1st Reh: 11/10/26. Runs:12/04/26 – 1/03/27. In Florida Rep’s ArtStage Studio Theatre.

Note: “Plaid Tidings” is a revue of the close harmony ‘guy groups (e.g. The Four Aces, The Four Freshmen) that reached the height of their popularity during the 1950s. Seeking a diverse group of strong singer/actors with a great ear for harmonies and who are comfortable with movement.

FRANKIE: [CAST] 20s. Male. Second tenor – lyric baritone. The leader and caretaker of the group.

SPARKY: [CAST] 20s Male. Baritone. The clown, the imp, the scamp. The cut-up of the group. 

JINX: [CAST] 20s. Male. Tenor. The shy one. He is terrified and doesn’t always remember what song is next.

SMUDGE: [CAST] 20s. Male. Bass. The worrier. He worries about the props, the running order, and assumes the audience won’t like him.


DAMES AT SEA Book and Lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller. Music by Jim Wise. Dir: Jason Parrish. Choreographer: TBA. Musical Director: TBA.1st Reh: 12/15/26. Runs: 01/08/27 – 01/24/26. In Florida Rep’s Historic Arcade Theatre.

Note: Seeking strong dancers with tap skills. This musical is a love letter to the golden age movie musicals of the 30s and 40s.

MONA KENT: Female. 40s. Bombastic and insecure leading lady. Mezzo Belter: Low G#3-Belt or Mix to D#5 (High note: Soprano Ab5). Tap skills required.

RUBY: Female. 20s. Innocent and sweet but catches on quickly. Newly arrived in NYC to be a Broadway star from Utah. Mezzo or Sop: Low Ab3-to High Bb5. Tap skills required.

DICK: Male. Mid/late 20s. Happy-go-lucky Sailor originally from Utah who wants to be a Broadway Songwriter. In love with Ruby. Tenor: Low A to High A4. Tap skills required.

JOAN: Female. Mid 20s-30s.A Sassy chorus girl.In love with Lucky and Helps Ruby become a star. Alto / Hi Mix Belter with a nice Mezzo Low A3- High G5 (Needs to belt the high D5). Tap skills required.

LUCKY: Male. Late 20s-30s. Another quirky sailor, Dick’s friend. He’s in love with Joan. Tenor or Baritone: Low A to F#4. Song and dance man. Must be a skilled tapper.

HENNESEY/CAPTAIN: Male 40s-60s. Seeking actor to play double roles. Hennesey is a put-upon Broadway producer. Captain is a navy captain in command of the boys’ battleship. Tenor or Baritone: Low A to Ab4. Strong legit voice. Seeking a skilled character man with tap and dance skills.


SEXY LAUNDRY by Michele Riml. Dir: Chris Clavelli. 1st Reh: 01/05/27. Runs: 01/29/27 – 03/07/27. Possible Ext.: 3/28/27. In the ArtStage Studio Theatre.

ALICE LANE: Female. Fifty-something.

HENRY LANE: Male. Fifty-something.


OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS by Joe DiPietro. Dir: Maureen Heffernan. 1st Reh: 01/19/27. Runs: 02/12/27 – 02/28/27. In Florida Rep’s Historic Arcade Theatre

NICK CRISTANO: 30s. A handsome, young, Italian American professional. Kind and funny – though a bit anxious. Planning to move across the country from NYC, leaving his doting grandparents behind.

FRANK GIANELLI: [CAST] Late 70s-80. Nick’s maternal grandfather.

AIDA GIANELLI: [CAST] 70s. Nick’s maternal grandmother.

NUNZIO CRISTANO: [CAST] 70s. Nick’s paternal grandfather.

NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE: the 1970s Beehive Musical Book by Fred Stuart. Arrangements and additional music by George Luton. Director: Jason Parrish. Musical Director: TBA. Note: “Never Can Say Goodbye” is a tribute to the strong (mostly) female voices of the 1970s. The song list includes hits made famous by Gloria Gaynor, Roberta Flack, The Jackson 5, Linda Ronstadt, B.J. Thomas, Three Dog Night, Diana Ross, and more! Seeking a diverse ensemble of female singer, actors, dancers.

ALISON: Female. Mid 20s-30. Any race or ethnicity. Solos include “You Light up My Life” and “I Want You Back.” (Eb3-C6)

JASMINE: Black female. Mid 20s-30s. Solos include “Right Back Where You Started” and “Lady Marmalade.” (Eb3-A5)

PRIVATE LIVES by Noel Coward. Director: Chris Clavelli.1st Reh: 3/16/27. Runs: 4/09/27 – 05/09/27/26. Possible Extension: 4/26/25. In the ArtStage Studio Theatre.

Note: Coward’s characters are British and on honeymoon in Paris. Louise is French. Dialects will be used.

SIBYL CHASE: Female. Mid 20s. Coquettish, bubbly, and somewhat shallow. She is not given to particularly deep thought. Very much the blushing bride and is threatened by Elyot’s previous wife.

ELYOT CHASE: Male. 30s-50. Sibyl’s rich and handsome new husband who was formerly married to Amanda. He has a quick and cutting wit that he wields throughout the play.

AMANDA PRYNNE: Female. Mid 30s-Mid 40s. A beautiful second-time bride – formerly married to Elyot – and is now married to Victor. She has a fiery temper and a tendency toward impulsive behavior.

VICTOR PRYNNE: Male. Mid/late 30s. Amanda’s new husband. He is pleased to describe himself as “normal.” Formal, dignified, and possibly dull.

LOUISE: Female. Any age. A long-suffering French maid employed at Amanda’s Parisian flat.
