is President and General Manager of WBBH-TV and WZVN-TV in Fort Myers/Naples, Florida. Hearst Television acquired WBBH in 2023, and under Darrel’s leadership, the stations have continued to grow as trusted sources of news and innovation along Florida’s Gulf Coast. A veteran broadcast executive, he has guided teams recognized with multiple national Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in journalism. Since joining the stations in 1997, Darrel has advanced through key leadership roles overseeing sales, news, digital, and production operations, fostering collaboration and forward-looking strategies across all departments. He is deeply engaged in community service and professional development, serving on several nonprofit and advisory boards supporting education, veterans, and the arts. A Minnesota native who grew up on a multi-generational dairy farm, his career includes roles at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and KSTP-TV in Minneapolis–St. Paul. Darrel brings a grounded approach to leadership and a lifelong passion for storytelling that connects and informs.  He lives in Fort Myers with his husband Chuck, and they have twin daughters Gianna and Luccia.
