PERFORMANCES ADDED TO SOLD OUT RUN OF HIT COMEDY, ERMA BOMBECK: AT WIT’S END!October 26, 2016
FORT MYERS, FL – Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce two added performances to the nearly sold out run of the blockbuster comedy, Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End. Due to overwhelming popular demand for tickets in Florida Rep’s Artstage Studio Theatre, performances have been added on Sunday, Oct. 30th at 7PM and Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 2PM.
The one-woman tour-de-force stars Florida Rep ensemble member and audience favorite, Carrie Lund, and is breaking box office records in the company’s intimate venue. The News-Press called the production “poignant…inspiring” and “simply beautiful,” saying that Carrie Lund’s “sizzling comedic timing…deserves to be seen!”
Carrie Lund stars as Erma Bombeck, the award-winning humorist and writer known for her hilarious and truthful take on women’s lives and role in the household. At the height of her success, Bombeck’s syndicated column, At Wit’s End, appeared in 900 newspapers nationwide, and was seen twice weekly by 30 million readers. She was an important voice for women from the mid-1960s to the late-1990s, and was a bestselling author and activist in the women’s rights movement. Her more famous quotes include “If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?”
Written by journalists and playwright sisters Allison Engel and Margaret Engel, the regional premiere of this comedy must close in Florida Rep’s ArtStage Studio Theatre on Nov. 6. Tickets are selling very quickly and the best availability is now concentrated in the added performances on Oct. 30 at 7PM and Nov. 2 at PM.
